Meet Our Director Director Kathy Cornish began leading the Wamego Dutch Mill chorus in April 2007. While she is a relative new-comer to our chorus, Kathy has been hooked on barber-shop harmony since attending high school in Clovis, New Mexico, where she was selected to sing bass in a women’s quartet. She is an experienced director, leading Topeka’s Sunflower Harmony Chorus for 35 years. Under her direc-tion, Sunflower Harmony qualified to compete internation-ally three times, and performed by invitation at Carnegie Hall in 1990. Kathy’s experience, “musical ear,” and drive for perfection guided Wamego Dutch Mill Chorus to achieve 1st place among mid-size choruses and 2nd overall at regional competition in April 2008. Kathy is dedicated to continuing the tradition of quality music for which the Wamego chorus is known. She also hopes to instill the love of singing in others. “All of the members volunteer their time and talent to this organization, so another goal I have is to encourage the fun and joy of singing,” she said. “It just makes my heart happy when we make beautiful music together.” |
